    Since the 17th century, these loafers have been popular amongst the ladies of the wealthy families as these shoes were hand made by fluent craftsmen personally for the owners of the shoes to fit to their own size. Although most were made from brocade and silk, some ladies prefered their shoes softer and nurturing to the feet, so they would use softer materials like velvet.
